Growing SMEs is a premium annual get-together for SME practitioners in Latin America. High growth SMEs, funds, banks, angel investors, and members of the public and academic sector will gather in Bogotá on September 22nd and 23rd to do business and exchange ideas about how to further stimulate the growth of Latin American SMEs.

TIC Americas 2010/Peru 2010

TIC Americas 2010/Peru 2010, an international business competition offers new opportunities for young people in the Americas and Peru , where the Finals will be held, to create and allow their business idea to grow. Young entrepreneurs under the age of thirty-six can register their team and submit their concept paper until March 1 to participate in the 2010 Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas ), the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) has announced. The Morality of Profit

The SEVEN Fund is sponsoring a global competition inviting discourse on the morality of profit. SEVEN welcomes the submission of essays that explore the morality of profit through the lens of diverse cultural, religious, philosophical, and academic traditions. We will award top honors to three essays, a grand prize of $20,000, second prize of $10,000, and third prize of $5,000. The best pieces will be collected into a manuscript, which is intended for publication, and the program will culminate with an international conference in 2010.

International Development Design Summit

The 2010 International Development Design Summit (IDDS) will take place from 7-30 July at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, USA. IDDS 2010 will be somewhat different from previous years - whereas past summits focused on creating prototypes, this summit will focus on turning these prototypes into products and getting them into the hands of people who can use them. It is the goal of IDDS 2010 to guide project teams through the process of becoming viable ventures with business plans to disseminate their innovations at scale. InnoCentive have posted a Challenge looking for proposals for an upcoming Challenge that will address a problem in the developing world, specifically related to water. The Seeker will pay out at least $8000 in awards. The problem must be one that warrants quick resolution and can be accomplished at a relatively low cost.

The Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value

The Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value will be awarded every other year to an individual, a non-governmental organization (NGO), or a business for developing an outstanding innovation that:

1. has proven its worth on a small-scale;
2. is judged to be feasible and applicable on a broader scale or in other communities; and
3. has high promise of improving rural development, improving nutrition, improving access to clean water, or having a significant impact on water management.

To nominate an individual, an NGO, or a small enterprise for an outstanding innovation in water, nutrition or rural development, please read the Official Rules and use the Nomination Form.

Business plan competition for agricultural cooperatives and farmers associations

The Farmers in Business is a a business plan competition aimed at Agricultural Cooperatives and Farmers Associations in developing countries who seek finance to start or to grow their businesses. Outstanding Postdoctoral Entrepreneur Award

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) announced that nominations have opened for the inaugural Kauffman Foundation Outstanding Postdoctoral Entrepreneur Award, which recognizes and celebrates a scientific researcher who has successfully commercialized his or her discoveries through entrepreneurship.
